Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has rejected the chance to bring a one-time star Gunners performer back to north London, according to reports.
The player in question? Alexis Sanchez.
Attacker Sanchez, of course, enjoyed a stellar stint at The Emirates, after making the move to England’s capital back in 2014.
Across a four-year stretch, the Chilean international racked up 166 appearances, notching 80 goals along the way.
Since coming to the decision to swap Arsenal for Premier League rivals Manchester United, however, Sanchez’s career has never been quite the same.
A dismal Red Devils spell was followed by a largely hit-and-miss return to Italy with Inter Milan, culminating in the veteran winger taking his talents to France last summer, to line out for Olympique Marseille.

As per a report from Chilean outlet La Tercera, the 34-year-old recently made direct contact with Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, over the prospect of a move back to north London.
The Spaniard’s ensuing response, however, left Sanchez altogether disappointed.
This comes with Arteta having been ‘direct’, in informing his one-time teammate that he does not fit into the youth-driven vision of he and the powers that be at The Emirates.
