Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has taken to social media on Sunday night, to leap to the defence of French national icon Zinedine Zidane.
For those not aware, the name of ex-midfielder Zidane has taken its place front and centre in the French media headlines late this evening.
This comes owing to comments on the part of France Football Federation president Noel Le Graet.
Zidane, until recently, was hotly tipped to take his place in the dugout for Les Bleus, with some outlets having gone as far as to suggest that an agreement was as good as in place.
It therefore came as nothing short of a bombshell earlier this week, when, instead, a new contract for long-time boss Didier Deschamps was made official.
Drawn on the subject of Zidane’s links to the post, and ensuing suggestions that he could now go on to take up the reins of the Brazilian national team, though, FFF chief Le Graet was bizarrely dismissive.
“He can go wherever he wants, to a club or to a national team. I don’t really care about it. Did he try to ring me? Definitely not. I wouldn’t have even picked up the phone for him.”
And, safe to say, such comments have since not gone down at all well across France.
A host of high-profile figures have publicly spoken out against Le Graet this evening, amongst them, most notably, Kylian Mbappe.
Taking to his official Twitter account a short time ago, Les Bleus’ World Cup hero accused the FFF chief of showing a lack of respect for Zidane:
