France have been simply unstoppable in Euro 2024 qualifying so far, with that trend likely to continue.
To date, Didier Deschamps’ team have played four and won four, not so much as conceding a goal.

This all leaves the two-times European Champions six points clear at the top of Group B, still on track to qualify for a Euros with a perfect record for only the third time, after ‘92 and 2004.
This fact looks unlikely to change any time soon, after Stephen Kenny’s team began this campaign with back-to-back defeats; that aforementioned 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture, before a 2-1 loss in Athens.
The Boys in Green did at least get off the mark in their most-recent outing, demolishing whipping boys Gibraltar 3-0 at home, with Mikey Johnston, Evan Ferguson and Adam Idah all on target.
Nevertheless, with France, the Dutch and Greece also in this group of death, Ireland were never likely to achieve a top two finish.
However, Kenny’s team are, more-or-less, guaranteed a play-off place via the Nations League.
So, even if any points they accumulate in this group will, almost certainly, be ultimately in vain, Ireland will need to build momentum ahead of a probably play-off in March.
Here though, up against the side who’ve reached back-to-back World Cup Finals, anything other than a win for France at Parc des Princes would be a major shock.

James McClean won his 100th cap against Gibraltar in June, becoming just the seventh Irishman to achieve this.
In goal, Gavin Bazunu will keep his place, chosen over CaoimhÃn Kelleher, while Matt Doherty will start at right-wing-back, with captain Séamus Coleman still sidelined.
